Are you waiting on Disney World to re-open? Was your Disney World vacation cancelled or postponed due to the coronavirus? Mine was too. It stinks! I know we are all anxious about the virus, our jobs, when this will all end. If you’re anything like me, you’re also really missing Disney World! Wether it’s your first trip or one of many, the excitement builds the closer you get to your vacation, then when its just cancelled its a huge bummer! There are some things you can do to keep the magic alive while you wait for things to return to normal so you can plan your magical Disney vacation.
Learn to Draw Mickey Mouse
This is a great activity to do with your kids. Just click here for a lesson from Disney cast member Stephen Ketchum on how to draw everybody’s favorite mouse. If you want to learn to draw other characters, in the search box in the top right corner just type ‘learn to draw’ and click search. Links to more lessons come up!
Add Some Magic to Your Meals
Do you have a favorite meal from your last Disney World vacation? Longing for a Dole Whip? Make it at home! If you have a Disney recipe book pull it out and pick your favorite. You can also find a lot of recipes online with a simple Google search. This is a great activity to get the kids involved.
Watch Disney Movies
Watching your Disney movies is a great way to countdown to your Disney vacation or even just fill the time while we are waiting for Disney World to re-open. There are a lot of different lists of Disney movies to watch on the internet. Here’s the ones I recommend:
- Star Wars – all of them!
- Pirates of the Caribbean – all of them!
- Lion King
- Snow White
- Princess & the Frog
- Beauty and the Beast
- Toy Story – all of them!
- Little Mermaid
- Peter Pan
- Finding Nemo & Finding Dory
- Monster’s Inc.
- Winnie the Pooh
- Bug’s Life
There are many more but these are my top recommendations. Many of them can be found on Disney+!
Count it Down
There are a lot of ways to count down to a Disney vacation. One of my favorites is to download an app on my phone so it’s always easy to check. If you have younger kids, something they can easily see would work better. There are a lot of ideas on Pinterest of count down calendars you can make. Another great craft to fill the time we’re quarantined!
Learn the App
When visiting Walt Disney World, you will use the My Disney Experience app to manage your dining reservations, FastPass+ reservations, dining plan, room charges, mobile food ordering and so much more. You can download the app now and log in with the same email and password you use to log in on a computer. Start playing around with the app. Practice booking FastPasses (just don’t book real ones lol), review the layout of the parks and just generally learn everything you can do with the My Disney Experience app.
These are just a few ways you can pass the time at home dreaming about your next (or first) Disney World vacation. What other ideas do you have?
